Prayer for Easter Weekend

To each of you part of the community at Trinity:

I am writing you because this weekend is a big deal.  I also write you because you are a praying people who place a high value on the power and importance of prayer.  The events of Good Friday and Easter form the foundation of where we find our hope, grace, and forgiveness.  This is also a weekend that lots of people will consider or come to churches who may not regularly be part of a community of faith.  I believe that there is a power in prayer, and that all good things from God have their root in prayer, in conversation with God.  Jesus says in John 14: “ Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

I ask that you pray for:

  • Those who you have invited– that they might see and experience God in this place in a powerful way, and that this weekend can be just the beginning of their faith journey
  • Worship leaders– that they may lead us in deep and meaningful worship to celebrate the resurrection
  • Pastor Bill– that God will speak through Him in a powerful way to people coming from all different faith journeys
  • One more– (Many new faces, and many seeking God who are far from Him)- not to fill pews or egos, but as Jesus says in John 14:13 so that God may be glorified, because each person who comes through our doors is one more life that can be changed by God
  • Lives changed– each week there are people in our church struggling with marriages, addictions, challenges, and just the busyness of life.  Pray for transformation in their hearts and circumstances this weekend
  • God be glorified– At the end of the day this weekend is also about Thanking and praising God for what Jesus did for us on the cross and in the resurrection

Pray with expectation that God will hear and answer his people’s prayers in powerful ways, pray with humility trusting in God’s will, and pray with Hope that God will allow us to be part of His life-changing work in this world.
