Lifted Up

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary;
    they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31

It’s just one of those days.  For every 2 steps forward you feel like you are taking at least 3 steps back.  Every time you think you are starting to get ahead, you remember 4 more things that need to get done.  Treading water is a nice way of saying you feel like you are holding onto life by a thread in those moments or seasons of life.

God speaks to the prophet Isaiah to bring a message to the broken and demoralized people of Israel.  God’s people wonder if they have been abandoned, if there is any reason for hope, or at least when their might be light at the end of the tunnel.  It is into that moment that God speaks this encouragement.  God will lift you up when you are tired, He will renew your strength.  This is Good News, for the times when you are at the end of your rope, when you are not sure how much more you can do.  Because in that moment God says, you don’t have to be able to do it all.  Didn’t you hear me?  I (God) will renew your strength, God will carry you, and God will lift you up in moments of weakness.
